therapy for teens and adults

in-person or online throughout California

Nobody trips over mountains. It is the small pebbles that cause you to stumble. Pass all the pebbles in your path, and you will find you have crossed the mountain.
— Ralph Waldo Emmerson

You’re doing your best—but something still feels off.

Whether you're a teen overwhelmed by school and friendships, a parent navigating emotional meltdowns, or an adult carrying anxiety or grief that won’t ease up—you may find yourself thinking:

“Why can’t I just get it together?”
“I don’t know how much longer I can keep holding everything in.”
“This isn’t the version of life I thought I’d be living.”

You’re not alone in this. And you don’t have to figure it out alone either.

Hi, I’m Robyn.

I’m a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Berkeley, CA. I offer in-person and online therapy for teens, adults, and parents who want support that is warm, honest, and deeply grounded in both connection and clinical strategy.

Therapy in Berkeley That Helps You Feel Seen, Heard, and Respected

We’re living in an era of disconnection. Even when we’re surrounded by people, it can feel like no one really gets us—especially when we’re struggling.

My practice is built on the belief that real healing starts with being deeply understood. From there, we develop strategies to help you move forward with intention and self-trust.

I specialize in therapy for:

  • Teens and parents navigating big emotions and disconnection

  • Adults struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, and emotional overwhelm

  • Women going through infertility and reproductive grief

Whether your struggles are recent or long-standing, we’ll work together to make sense of what’s happening and create realistic, lasting change.

Why Work with Me?

I’ve spent over 15 years supporting teens, parents, and adults through life’s most complex emotional moments. I draw from evidence-based methods like CBT, Attachment Theory, Structural Family Therapy, and Positive Parenting Program (Triple P). I’m also certified in Advanced Grief Counseling with a focus on disenfranchised grief—and I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to the therapy room.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and based on a deep belief that therapy should be both emotionally supportive and practically effective.

Frequently Asked Questions

of Therapists in Berkeley

  • The most important factor in determining positive outcomes in therapy is the relationship between the therapist and the client. Finding someone you like and trust is just as important as picking a therapist based on a specific modality. There are a number of different therapeutic modalities and approaches. Reflect on what style resonates most with you - do you like someone that doesn’t interact much with you, someone that gives direct feedback, someone that assigns homework, someone that monitors your progress, etc.? Ask your therapist how they work and why their approach is effective to learn more about what it will feel like to work with them.

  • Counseling and therapy are often used interchangeably. Some people define counseling as a short-term treatment that focuses on coaching, skill-building, and managing situational or external stressors. Therapy is often defined as a longer-term treatment that involves deep self-reflection and examination in an effort to understand and cope with difficult feelings and behavioral patterns that impact functioning.

  • When building a new relationship with a therapist, it’s important to establish consistency in treatment. I have found that meeting weekly is most effective because it allows trust to build naturally and rapidly, for the therapist and client to reflect on past sessions and new strategies in a timely manner, and for clients to bring up issues that are currently impacting them. Meeting weekly also allows for progress to gain momentum and for the therapist and client to reflect on how things are going and to take accountability and make adjustments if treatment is not working.
